TLDR
AI has the potential to transform nursing, but its adoption requires a balance between technology and humanized care, and its integration must be regulated and complemented by human clinical judgment.
Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) has transformed multiple areas of healthcare, and in nursing its application has optimized clinical decision making, improving diagnostic accuracy and reducing errors. However, its implementation faces challenges related to staff training, reliability of algorithms and ethical implications. This study aims to analyze the impact of AI on nursing decision making, identifying benefits, limitations and future trends. An exploratory methodology based on a literature review of scientific literature indexed in high-impact databases was used. The results highlight that AI improves patient safety and care efficiency, optimizes time management and reduces workload. However, its implementation poses risks such as over-reliance on algorithms, data privacy and the need for continuous training to ensure its proper use. The discussion emphasizes that, although AI represents an innovative tool in nursing, its integration must be regulated and complemented by human clinical judgment. In conclusion, AI has the potential to transform nursing, but its adoption requires a balance between technology and humanized care.
