Trends and Future Research of Information Technology in Finance: A Scopus-Based Bibliometric Review

Information Technology (IT) has significantly impacted various sectors, including finance. Despite this influence, bibliometric studies on IT in Finance are scarce, leading to a limited understanding of the field's scope and research trends. This study aimed to bridge this gap through a bibliometric analysis of 446 Scopus-indexed documents, using VOSviewer for visualization. The peak publication year was 2023, with 49 documents. Ngepah, N. from the University of Johannesburg was identified as the most prolific author, while the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine and China were prominent for their research output. The “ACM International Conference Proceeding Series“ and “Lecture Notes In Computer Science” were among the top sources. Analysis showed journals as the main publication medium, with 60.3% of total outputs. Computer Science was the most dominant subject area, reflecting strong integration between IT and finance. Keyword visualization revealed three primary clusters focusing on advanced technology in financial data processing, sustainability, and institutional economics. Future research should concentrate on Fintech innovations, cybersecurity, RegTech, AI, machine learning applications, digital banking transformation, quantitative finance, blockchain, cloud computing, and IoT, due to their potential to reshape global financial practices and policies.
