Abstract
The measurement of tree height is an important task in forestry production, scientific research, teaching and forest inventory, and it is an important basis for evaluating the growth status of trees. This paper abandons the cumbersome measuring equipment but combines the principle of close-range photogrammetry with the Android smartphone application (hereinafter referred to as App), and proposes a new method for measuring tree height. The measurer inputs the necessary parameters and performs simple operations. The application calls the internal direction sensor of the mobile phone to obtain its tilt angle data, and then combines the input parameters to obtain the precise distance from the tree to the measurer first, and then calculates the height of the tree through a certain mathematical model. This method does not require cumbersome equipment and complicated steps, and the accuracy can meet the requirements. It is suitable for making relatively accurate estimates of tree height in the field without professional measuring tools.
