Abstract

Supply chain and operations management are changing as a result of artificial intelligence (AI), which makes decision-making more intelligent, quick, and flexible. Organisations are using AI techniques like machine learning, predictive analytics, and natural language processing to optimise every part of the supply chain, from logistics and procurement to demand forecasting and inventory management, as global markets grow more intricate and volatile. AI promotes supply chain insight by enabling predictive maintenance and real-time monitoring, which lowers downtime and increases asset utilisation. Routine tasks are streamlined by intelligent automation, and sophisticated algorithms are used to find inefficiencies and recommend economical fixes. AI also helps reduce risk by allowing quick reaction plans and early disruption detection. AI-powered solutions in operations management improve production scheduling, quality assurance, and worker productivity. AI integration promotes a data-driven culture that aids in strategic agility and ongoing development. Nevertheless, issues including ethical concerns, integration difficulty, and data quality continue to be major obstacles to broad use. In addition to outlining potential options for utilising AI to create more robust, effective, and sustainable operations in a dynamic global environment, this study examines the present applications, advantages, and drawbacks of AI in supply chain and operations management. The special feature of the study is the way it examines artificial intelligence (AI) in the entire supply chain and operations process, not in only one of its aspects in logistics or demand forecasting. Numerous past researches have examined AIA I in a single aspect, such as machine learning to handle the inventory or forecasting supply acquisition devices. This paper, however, unites AI in a manner to include all aspects of the business, including planning and acquisition of materials, manufacturing, transportation, and distribution of products to the customers.
