THE ELLIPTIC CURVE FACTORIZATION METHOD

This paper discusses two factorization methods, Pollard’s p − 1 algorithm and Lenstra’s elliptic curve algorithm, and establishes a group structure on elliptic curves, which will allow us to build on key ideas from Pollard’s method in order to understand Lenstra’s elliptic curve method of factorization.
