The power to grant the diploma of " Extra Urbem Licentiate " was secured to the College by the statute of 14 and 15 Henry VIII (1522-23) and brought to the authority of the College all those who practised medicine in England, with the exception of Doctors of Medicinie of Oxford and Cambridge.
