Abstract
This study is a branch of the doctoral research in science education, aimed at understanding and analyzing how topics related to the conservation of water resources and the maintenance of health are addressed in the Brazilian educational context within the curricular components of Science and Biology. For this purpose, a bibliographic research was carried out. It was qualitative in nature and structured in the form of a State of Knowledge study. The investigation was conducted in the repositories of the CAPES Theses and Dissertations Catalog and the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations. Dissertations and theses published between 2014 and 2023 were selected, provided that they addressed the research objective. In the search, we used the following descriptor classes: “Teaching AND water AND health” and “Teaching AND water resources AND health”. In the collection stage, we found 1,465 studies. After applying the open access filter, 1,301 remained. Of this total, 874 were dissertations and 427 were theses. After reading the titles, we selected 41 studies. Upon analyzing the abstracts, 11 studies remained, in which we conducted the Content Analysis proposed by Bardin (2016). The results converged on the importance of integrating topics related to water resource conservation and health maintenance into school curricula, promoting an approach that considers not only the technical aspects but also the social and environmental implications. It involves using active methodologies and interdisciplinarity, as well as reviewing textbooks to foster more effective and consistent education, thereby encouraging student protagonism.
