Abstract

Big data analytics has become a cornerstone of innovation, efficiency, and evidence-based decision-making across business, non-profit, and public sectors. This article synthesizes core principles such as the five Vs of big data, key tools and techniques (Hadoop, Spark, SQL/NoSQL, visualization platforms), and complementary analytics frameworks—descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive. Implementation strategies emphasize strategic planning, fostering a data-driven culture, workforce development, and scalable infrastructure, while addressing challenges such as governance, ethics, and resource limitations. Case studies illustrate applications in customer engagement, operational efficiency, fundraising, policy, and societal development. Looking forward, the article explores trends in AI, quantum and edge computing, real-time analytics, and sustainability practices. By integrating conceptual foundations, practical applications, and future directions, it provides a comprehensive guide for organizations seeking to harness big data analytics responsibly and effectively.
