SynAI: Supply Security for Smart Municipalities Through AI-Optimized Aquaponics Farm Automation Using Federated Learning, GenAI, and EdgeAI

This position paper outlines the proposed setup of an AI system for production optimization in aquaponics farms. It uses Generative AI to create advice for aquaponics operators and integrates data coming from sensors installed in the farm to adapt its answers correspondingly. The system combines its knowledge about the proper farm operation with the information received from the sensors. A Federated Learning (FL) approach allows multiple farms to work together by sharing insights from sensor data while protecting sensitive information from being exposed.
