Abstract
Solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) were introduced in 1991, as a replacement for traditional colloidal transporters like emulsions, liposomes, and polymers. SLNs overcome limitations of classical structures and offer effective drug distribution. This review discusses the SLN methods for production, characterization, evaluation, in vitro studies, ex vivo studies and in vivo studies. SLNs are colloidal carriers that provide effective release, identification, and guided drug distribution. The article focuses on minimizing harmful impacts through developed manufacturing methods like homogenization and solvent evaporation. The study explores the potential of SLNs as a novel medication system using advanced analytical techniques like electron microscopy, dynamic light scattering. SLNs are incorporated in gel for easy topical application and antifungal activity. Preparation and evaluation of SLN loaded gels is also discussed.
