Abstract
This paper provides an overview of the evolution and significance of System on Chip (SoC) verification within semiconductor design. As SoCs incorporate increasingly complex and heterogeneous components, traditional verification methods are proving insufficient to address the challenges of functionality, integration, and interoperability. Advanced verification strategies—such as coverage-driven verification, assertion-based verification, formal verification, emulation, and the widespread adoption of the Universal Verification Methodology (UVM)—have greatly enhanced the scalability and efficiency of the verification process. This review examines various SoC verification techniques, evaluating their strengths and limitations, and explores emerging trends focused on accelerating and improving the reliability of verification for next-generation SoC designs.
