Secondhand smoke exposure and C-reactive protein levels in youth.

A significant association between secondhand smoke exposure, assessed by serum cotinine, and elevated serum CRP among nonsmoking youth is found, and may pose an important long-term cardiovascular risk for children and adolescents.
