Rethinking HBase: Design and Implementation of an Elastic Key-Value Store over Log-Structured Local Volumes

HBase-BDB is designed, implemented, and evaluated, an alternative to HBase that replaces the HDFS store with a thinner layer of a log-structured B+ tree key value store (Berkeley DB) operating over local volumes that overcomes HBase's performance bottlenecks and its novel elasticity mechanisms.
