Abstract

With the development of smart grids and energy internet, the demand for energy storage in power systems is gradually increasing. Flywheel energy storage is irreplaceable in high-frequency, high-power, and fast-response scenarios, making it particularly suitable as an “energy storage buffer” for power grids, industries, and high-reliability facilities. It complements long-duration energy storage technologies such as batteries, promoting the efficient and stable operation of clean energy systems. Among these, the situation awareness technology of flywheel energy storage is the core to ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the system, as well as a key technology for maintaining safety, stability, and efficiency. This paper uses Matlab/Simulink to construct a simulation model of a flywheel energy storage unit and conducts simulation analysis on the power signal tracking capability during the charging and discharging processes. The results show that the flywheel energy storage unit model established in this paper can respond quickly to changes in power signals while ensuring that the output power consistently follows the given power, aligning with the operational characteristics of actual flywheel energy storage systems. This verifies the feasibility of the proposed method.
