Recent Progress of Integer Factorization Algorithms and Challenges Faced by the Traditional Cryptology

Several traditional algorithms of number theory for solving the integer factorization problem are surveyed, a brief introduction of quantum computation and the effective quantum algorithm for factorization are given, and challenges faced by traditional cryptology and prospects of the quantum cryptology in the new era of quantum computing are discussed.
