Abstract
ABSTRACT Nikoline and Tessa, two popular artists on the Danish rap scene, express femininity, sexuality, and aggression in their performances. While the first two elements are quintessential for the so-called “fourth wave” feminist movement, the element of anger adds another layer to the substance of their art. Considering Amia Srinivasan’s delineation of anger as apt and intrinsic, yet historically disciplined, the embrace of anger in women’s art can be considered a subversive and potentially feminist practice. However, while the expression of women’s anger seems to be resurging in recent feminist literature, not all expressions of anger are productive merely by their belonging to women. Using Srinivasan’s theory of anger as a conceptual framework, we analyse the works of two Danish rap artists as examples of what we call feminist productive anger.
