Processing Internet-derived Text - Creating a Corpus of Usenet Messages

The technical and methodological aspects involved in creating a large corpus of asynchronous computer-mediated communication by downloading and post-processing hundreds of thousands messages posted in twelve Usenet newsgroups are discussed.
