Abstract
The article analyzes the foundations of the right to education in democratic regimes, emphasizing that its structuring values are different from those existing in totalitarian regimes, such as nazism and fascism. In this way, it seeks to establish a relationship between the political regime adopted by the State and the consequences for the teaching model offered to the community. It is pointed out that, in democratic regimes, the education system is built on three essential values – equality, dignity and solidarity – each characterizing, respectively, inclusive, empowering and fraternal education.
