Abstract
Bioethanol was produced at pilot scale from sugarcane bagasse by using Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain. The maximum obtained yield was 0.31 gp/gs after the fermentation of hydrolyzates by using microbial fermenter having capacity 30 L under the controlled pH 5.5±0.2 and Temperature 35°C. The conversion of lignocellulosic biomass to bioethanol requires pretreatment of biomass, Enzymatic Hydrolysis and Fermentation process. Both alkaline and acidic pretreatment techniques (NaOH+H2O2) with different compositions were used in this study. The Enzymatic hydrolysis was performed by using commercial cellulase enzyme and 55% hydrolysis rate has been achieved. The amount of ethanol increases from 9 % to 29 % through the process of simple distillation. The amount of ethanol further increases from 29 % to 95 % through the process of distillation using fractional distillation column. Gas Chromatography is an analytical technique used for the estimation of ethanol in purification process
