Abstract

Software-Defined Networks is the most promising research area in the field of computer networking at present. There have been some problems with the increase in demand for switching from conventional networks to SDN. With the expansion of the wide-ranging network, more delay causes network congestion and transmission delays. Thus, the architecture of single controllers inefficient for network management. Distributed SDN controllers have implemented to tackle scalability, reducing transmission delay, better fault tolerance, and avoiding packet loss issues. This paper has analyzed the effect of layer 1 and layer 2 switching in single flow mode. Further, multiple flow mode performed for the average delay, maximum delay, average jitter, average bitrate. Moreover, Mininet is a network simulator to test complex topologies with the POX SDN controller and D-ITG to examine the effect of heavy network traffic on topologies in different SDN architectures.
