Abstract

In recent years, electroencephalography (EEG) has attracted growing attention as a noninvasive, high temporal resolution neuro‐monitoring tool in the diagnosis and treatment of premature ejaculation (PE). EEG holds significant promise for elucidating the neural mechanisms underlying PE. Emerging evidence indicates that emotional regulation and psychological factors—particularly anxiety and depression—are closely associated with PE, as reflected in distinct EEG patterns. Notably, anxiety may affect the control of the ejaculatory reflex via sympathetic nervous system hyperactivity. Advanced analytical techniques, including time‐frequency analysis, independent component analysis (ICA), and wavelet transforms, have provided novel insights into the brain dynamics of PE patients under various conditions. These studies have demonstrated significant alterations in EEG spectral bands during sexual stimulation and emotional fluctuations. Looking ahead, integrating EEG with other physiological signals (such as electrocardiogram [ECG] and skin conductance) and leveraging artificial intelligence algorithms could further enhance diagnostic precision and facilitate personalized therapeutic strategies for PE. This review summarizes the latest advancements in the application of EEG for PE diagnosis and treatment, while addressing the challenges and future directions for its clinical.
