Mechanisms of resistance to daptomycin in Staphylococcus aureus.

Daptomycin is a cyclic lipopeptide active against multidrug-resistant Gram-positives, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and MRSA, and retains most of this activity against S. aUREus with reduced susceptibility to vancomycin.
