Abstract

Recordings of neural activity with advance data processing, manipulation and analysis are focused to discover underlying processes of the brain functioning. These studies are expected to have unprecedented impact on the development of medical diagnostic and treatment methods, technologies such are: cognitive computing, artificial intelligence, human-machine interfaces, bionic prosthetic devices and overall human knowledge. This explains the huge interest in electrophysiological recordings and the amount of research being carried out to improve the technology and techniques of these recordings. In this context, we have previously developed a custom system for electrophysiological recordings of neural activity. In this paper, we present the testing methodology, measurements and evaluation of performance characteristics of the developed system for neural activity recordings. Additionally, we compare the measured characteristics of our system with the corresponding characteristics of a commercial electrophysiological recording system.
