TLDR

It is concluded that AI in medicine should be understood as an evolving process, bringing numerous benefits but also significant challenges, ensuring that technology serves as a tool to support comprehensive care without compromising the essence of the doctor-patient relationship.

Abstract

Artificial intelligence has transformed medicine by improving diagnoses, optimizing treatments, and facilitating clinical data management, bringing greater precision and efficiency to healthcare processes. Besides enabling early interventions in various specialties, the technology also raises debates about ethics, privacy, and liability in the event of failures. Given the above, the study’s overall objective is to analyze the impacts of AI on medicine, considering the benefits, challenges, and prospects for the doctor-patient relationship and professional practice. This study is characterized as qualitative and bibliographic research, structured based on an integrative literature review. Therefore, it is concluded that AI in medicine should be understood as an evolving process, bringing numerous benefits but also significant challenges. The key to its success lies in the balance between innovation and humanization, ensuring that technology serves as a tool to support comprehensive care without compromising the essence of the doctor-patient relationship.
