Abstract
Neuroimaging has been an incredibly “lifesaving” scientific development for visualizing, observing, and studying the anatomical and functional properties of neural tissue, specifically the brain. Several cutting-edge neuroimaging methods are constantly being developed and refined for clinical and scientific research. Multimodal fusion in neuroimaging is a prominent and highly needed advancement. It helps address the limitations of individual modalities by integrating data from multiple modalities. In this article, we have explored different approaches to multimodal neuroimaging methods, including an interim analysis of the utility of combining modalities for brain imaging. It explains how multimodal neuroimaging methods are advantageous compared with conventional methods. It mentions their boundaries, thereby providing insight into developments in predominantly noninvasive brain imaging techniques. Each part describes a different multimodal imaging method, along with its advantages and limitations.
