Abstract
In the face of escalating environmental degradation and unsustainable industrial practices, the integration of biodegradable waste management systems has become imperative for achieving organizational greening and sustainability. This study explores the role of the Integrated Waste Treatment Plant (IWTP) model developed by Biofil Technologies Nigeria Limited as a viable solution for managing biodegradable waste within Nigerian organizations. Drawing from Ecological Modernization Theory and the Resource-Based View (RBV) of the firm, the study examines how IWTP contributes to environmental, economic, and social sustainability. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach, data were gathered through document analysis, expert interviews, and organizational case evidence to assess the effectiveness, adoption challenges, and sustainability outcomes associated with the Biofil IWTP model. Findings reveal that the Biofil IWTP system significantly enhances waste-to-resource conversion, reduces environmental footprints, promotes employee awareness of green practices, and fosters a circular economy mindset among adopters. The study recommends stronger institutional support, policy incentives, and strategic partnerships to scale biodegradable waste technologies as part of Nigeria’s national sustainability agenda. The paper contributes practical insights for environmental managers, policymakers, and sustainability practitioners seeking to green organizational operations through integrated waste innovation.
