Abstract
Landings of Alaska pollock decreased 8 percent to 2.6 billion pounds and were 13 percent lower than the 1991-1995 5-year average. Landings of Pacific cod were 605.3 million pounds -an increase of 2 percent from 591.4 million pounds in 1995. Pacific hake (whiting) landings were 430.5 million pounds (up 10 percent) valued at 17.0million(down5percentfrom1995).Landingsofrockfisheswere94.8millionpounds(up5percent)andvaluedat39.0 million (down 5 percent) compared to 1995. The 1996 rockfish landings were 10 percent lower than the 5-year average.
