Abstract

This paper addresses the growing threat of False Data Injection (FDI) attacks targeting islanded microgrids, a critical infrastructure for decentralized renewable energy systems By leveraging the Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA), the proposed framework secures communication between Distributed Energy Resource (DER) nodes and central control systems ECDSA, with its efficient computational performance and smaller key size, offers a robust alternative to traditional RSA-based systems, enhancing data integrity and authenticity in resource-constrained environments MATLAB simulations validate the model’s ability to detect and mitigate FDI attacks effectively in real-time Furthermore, the paper introduces a hybrid cloud-based key distribution mechanism incorporating Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) for enhanced security The results demonstrate that the proposed framework ensures resilience against cyber threats while minimizing computational overhead, establishing a scalable solution for future microgrid implementations.
