Abstract

The rapid advancement of automation and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies is changing

the nature of work and altering the skills necessary for continued employability. This paper

examines the implications of automation and AI on employment trends and skills demand,

focusing on their effects on workers, businesses, and policymakers. The study synthesizes

existing research through a comprehensive literature review, which reveals that automation and

AI can displace some jobs but also create new jobs with higher productivity opportunities

enhancement. Workers will need to develop critical skills such as creative problem-solving,

adaptability, and complex reasoning to remain competitive in an increasingly automated

economy.
