Abstract
Abstract This paper introduces the IDEA-A Integrated Model for designing and implementing information literacy instruction in academic settings and provides a case study to demonstrate the use of the model to develop a Summer Bridge course to provide basic information literacy instruction to students via an asynchronous Canvas course. The model combines Mullins (2014) IDEA design model with Kuhlthau (1991) Information Search Process (ISP) model, resulting in a comprehensive, holistic model that addresses the behavioral, cognitive, and affective domains of learning. The IDEA-A model consists of four iterative phases: Initial Analysis, Design, Embed, and Assess, all contained within sustained consideration of and attention to the affective domain of learning. This systematic approach to instructional design emphasizes collaboration between librarians and faculty and continuous evaluation. The model is applicable to various educational contexts.
