Abstract

The presented article examines the Hermitage Garden in Moscow as a multidimensional cultural and historical phenomenon that simultaneously acts as a monument of landscape art and an important center of theatrical and touring practice. The stages of the garden’s formation and evolution, the specifics of architectural and landscape solutions are analyzed in detail, and the role of Ya.V. Shchukin as the founder and inspirer of the development of this space is determined. Special attention is paid to the study of key events and cultural initia-tives that have had a significant impact on the theatrical life of Moscow. The works of modern scientists and popular historical sources allow us to characterize the Hermitage in the context of transformations of the urban environment and socio-cultural dynamics, to analyze the interaction of tangible and intangible heritage. The integrated approach provides a new interpretation of the garden’s importance in the history of Moscow culture and urban civilization.
