TLDR
This work suggests that perceptual learning is one of the factors that accounts for hemispheric differences in visual word recognition, and training a symmetrical split fovea model for SP and PS character recognition shows that hemispheric differences emerged as a consequence of the fundamental structural differences in information between SP and PS characters.
