Abstract
Failure prediction of bolted composite connections using continuum damge model is on display in this research. Firstly, a new criterion is proposed to evaluate the initiation of fiber, matrix, and delamination damage in composites. Then, continuum damage factors are adopted to control the damage evolution of fiber, matrix, and delamination. Finally, the failure of bolted connections is simulated through establishing a continuum damage model. The predicted bearing stress-strain curve and failure mode are identical with the experimental results.
