Exploring the Application of SCAMPER in Generative AI Prompt Design: Overcoming Prompting Barriers in the Creative Process

The application of generative AI in design is growing, but transforming abstract ideas into clear prompts remains a challenge for designers. This study integrates the SCAMPER method with ChatGPT to address this issue by developing a conversational platform. Ten experienced designers participated, and feedback was collected through semi-structured interviews. The results indicate that while designers initially struggled with vague prompts, iterative trial and error helped them refine their input, reducing communication gaps, stimulating creativity, and improving the accuracy of communication during the design process.
