Drug resistance markers data were compared before and after the adaption of artemisinin-based combination therapies and no validated mutations were identified in the Pfk13 propeller domain.

Abstract

Highlights • Drug resistance markers data were compared before and after the adaption of artemisinin-based combination therapies.• The Pfcrt K76T and Pfmdr1 N86Y mutations significantly declined over time.• The Pfdhfr N51I/C59R/S108N and Pfdhps A437G mutations increased over time.• No validated mutations were identified in the Pfk13 propeller domain.• Continuous heightened surveillance of drug resistance markers is necessary.
