Abstract
Conventional imaging technologies could find it challenging to offer exact and detailed information under lowlight conditions. This could limit numerous uses depending on clear visibility from an industrial point of view. In this manner, an acceptable response is provided by combining the contrast and heat sensitivity of infrared images with the depth and colour knowledge from visible images. In low-light conditions, this integration improves scene perception and visibility, therefore offering a more complete visual image. This paper provides a comprehensive review of infrared and visible image fusion methods meant to enhance low-light illumination. The work presents several methods used in the fusion process. Additionally done is a study of the literature to emphasise the efforts of field researchers. Under low-light conditions, reflection is also considered on applications and constraints for fusion of infrared and visible images, so advancing sustainable cities and communities by improving safety and security, industry and infrastructure by improving industrial imaging technologies.
