Abstract
The rapid growth of user-generated content on social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram has created rich avenues for sentiment analysis and emotion detection. Traditional sentiment analysis models primarily focus on polarity classification (positive, negative, neutral) but often neglect the deeper emotional layers embedded in text, which are essential for nuanced understanding. This paper presents an Emotion-Aware Sentiment Analysis framework leveraging Attention-Augmented Deep Learning models, specifically combining Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks with hierarchical attention mechanisms. This architecture enables the model to capture both sequential dependencies and hierarchical emotional cues in text data. The proposed model integrates advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques including tokenization, text normalization, and pre-trained word embeddings like GloVe and BERT to enhance linguistic understanding. Evaluation on benchmark datasets such as GoEmotions and SemEval 2018 Task 1 (Affect in Tweets) yielded promising results, with the model achieving an accuracy of 92.3%, an F1-score of 90.5%, and outperforming traditional models by a margin of 6-8% in multi-class emotion classification tasks. This emotion-aware approach not only enhances sentiment polarity detection but also provides granular insights into specific emotions like joy, anger, sadness, and fear, which are critical for applications in mental health monitoring, customer experience analysis, and crisis management. Future work aims to extend the framework to multimodal data analysis and cross-lingual emotion detection to further broaden its applicability.
