Abstract
The Internet of Medical Things has gained focus in recent years. To protect medical data being generated and transmitted securely without third-party intervention over shared insecure channels. This work focuses on the current state of security and privacy techniques being used by researchers. The study shows that alterations were made to the medical data or images before being hidden. Which creates a problem when they are referred to in the future for medical diagnosis. The work also incorporates the popular performance evaluation parameters that are used for ensuring the security and privacy of Electronic Medical Images (EMI). The validity of the studied methods was judged with the help of various performance evaluation test such as Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR), Mean Square Error (MSE), Structural Similarity Index Metrics (SSIM), etc. Most of the reviewed papers were able to achieve preferred values thus a good PSNR, low MSE, while SSIM value is close to 1 indicating similarity between the original image and extracted image.
