Eixos de estruturação da transformação urbana em territórios periféricos: estudo de um Projeto de Intervenção Urbana no leste de São Paulo

The São Paulo Strategic Master Plan has defined the public transportation infrastructure as a crucial element of its urban policy. The Structuring Axis of Urban Transformation intends to rebalance city accessibility patterns by intensifying the density, land use and promoting public improvements along the main transportation axis. This study aims to explore the challenges facing the implementation of the Structuring Axis outside central areas and has selected the Dom João Nery Av. as a case study, through the valley of the Lageado stream, a tributary of the Tietê River in Itaim Paulista, east side of São Paulo. Thus, an Urban Intervention Project was developed, seeking to connect the transportation network, the blue-green infrastructure and aiming to offer different strategies, in contrast to those ones presented by public authorities.
