Do AI researchers never learn ( deeply or otherwise ) ?

This work claims that deep learning networks can be solved, and taken advantage of, with proper analytical tools; and as algorithms that implement cognitive processes, if embedded in neuro-psychologically plausible computational models, they can be useful.
