Defensins and inflammation: The role of defensins in inflammatory bowel disease

It is less clear whether defensin deficiency is implicated in the pathogenesis of IBD or is a consequence of the disease process, although the aim of this article is to review the current knowledge of defensins in IBD and discuss their potential role.
