Defeating memory error exploits using automated software diversity

This dissertation undertake a systematic study of possible automated transformations that can defeat memory error exploits, and develops address space randomization, which disrupts exploits by making it difficult to predict the object that would be overwritten as a result of a memory corruption attack, and data space randomized, which randomizes the interpretation of overwritten data.
