Abstract

A novel deep learning framework has been introduced for the automatic, robust evaluation of Diabetic Foot Ulcers (DFUs) using advanced image classification techniques. This solution employs convolutional neural networks to efficiently interpret wound images and accurately identify key ulcer traits. The architecture integrates both pretrained and custom-tuned models to boost the extraction of meaningful features and optimize classification performance under varied ulcer scenarios. An innovative preprocessing approach refines image quality and standardizes input variability, facilitating consistent operation across diverse clinical datasets. Additionally, the system incorporates a decision support module that assists healthcare professionals by providing diagnostic recommendations derived from model outputs, thus reducing manual workload and promoting earlier intervention. The overarching aim is to develop an intelligent, unified diagnostic tool capable of streamlining DFU assessment, enabling autonomous patient monitoring, and supporting remote clinical decisions.
