Cortical efferent control of subcortical sensory neurons by synaptic disinhibition.

An in vitro model of the developing cortico-tectal projection of the visual cortex and the effects of explants expressing Green Fluorescent Protein on subcortical visual neurons was established, finding that the VC-induced disinhibition was readily reversed by application of an mGluR antagonist.
