Abstract

Abstract The exchange between Arabs and China is a model of cultural exchange and civilizational interaction that respects natural differences. It represents the profound dialogue and integration of Eastern civilizations. It is through cultural exchange that the relationship between Arabs and China has been strengthened, and one of the manifestations of this exchange is the vigorous development of academic activities. Arabists in China have played an important role in strengthening the relationship between China and Arab countries. Their main contributions are reflected in the mutual translation of Chinese and Arabic works, academic writings, teaching, compiling textbooks, and establishing Arabic teaching institutions and Arab studies research centers. After addressing the concept of Arabism in language and terminology, this paper attempts to trace the achievements of four generations of Chinese Arab experts, and study their contributions in academic research, translation, and publishing, in order to monitor the development of “Arabism” in China and the history and current status of Arabic studies in the country.
