CIService AR: A Mobile Augmented Reality System to Enhance User Experience for Campus Information Access

University freshmen often face changes in their studies, life, and social adaptation during the transition from high school to university. It is crucial to facilitate familiarity with campus regulations and ensure easy access to relevant information. This study was conducted at a Chinese university to design a campus information service application with augmented reality (AR) technology. Based on preliminary investigation from user interviews and online surveys, we identify the user requirements, which subsequently guide the prototype design. We present an overview of the proposed system, CIService AR, and evaluate its usability and effectiveness through questionnaires and in-depth interviews. Our findings suggest that the prototype has great potential to improve the university experience and the effectiveness of information acquisition and transmission.
