Abstract

Contemporary enterprises face significant challenges in managing disconnected application, information, and technology portfolios that operate in isolation, creating operational inefficiencies and strategic misalignment. The fragmentation of enterprise portfolios manifests through redundant system implementations, inconsistent data governance practices, and uncontrolled technology sprawl that collectively undermine organizational effectiveness and increase operational costs. Connected portfolio management emerges as a critical solution that leverages standardized classification systems, comprehensive relationship mapping methodologies, and systematic stakeholder engagement to achieve operational efficiency and strategic value realization. The framework incorporates business capabilities and services perspectives while maintaining alignment with established enterprise architecture governance structures. Technology-enabled portfolio intelligence through artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, and advanced visualization platforms provides organizations with proactive management capabilities that extend beyond traditional reactive approaches. Implementation strategies encompass cross-functional collaboration models, robust governance structures, comprehensive change management approaches, and continuous improvement processes that ensure sustainable portfolio connectivity. The integration of multiple analytical dimensions enables data-driven rationalization and modernization decisions that balance technical optimization with business objectives while maintaining transparency in strategic recommendations.
