Autonomous Cars: A Comprehensive Survey

Artificial Intelligence has made an impact on almost every field in existence in recent times. From the now-barely noticeable quality-of-life changes to major advances in medical, engineering, and infrastructural growth. These advances are based on dreams over generations and one such dream embodies the rise of self-driving or Autonomous Vehicles (AV). Over the years, this paradigm has seen numerous attempts, failures, and advances. The scope and rapidness of these ventures have only increased with time. It is difficult to keep up with such a highly volatile technology making every survey available outdated in a matter of months. In this paper, we deeply analyze the advances that occurred in AV applications in recent years with and without supporting/integrated technologies. We also provide a comprehensive summary of other surveys available. Then we provide an insight into AV’s associated issues and challenges with their possible solutions.
