Abstract

The purpose of this study is to validate Portilho and Banas’ Teaching Style Scale (Batista, Portilho y Rufini, 2015) with a Spanish sample. The scale has 4 dimensions and 40 items. To increase the linguistic validity, the translation into Spanish (originally in Portuguese) was done in several phases. Afterwards, the reliability and the construct validity were measured, first by an exploratory factorial analysis and then by a confirmatory factorial analysis. The results have revealed a good reliability of adaptation (alpha= .906) and predictive value. We can conclude that the validation of the model with Spanish teachers is in general similar to the one performed with the Brazilian sample. We therefore believe that it is a brief and efficient instrument to establish the teaching style of a teacher in any area or educational level.
