Abstract

"Brain-Computer Interface (BCI)" technology has witnessed significant advancements in recent years, revolutionizing the interaction between humans and machines. This review paper offers a comprehensive overview of the existing BCI systems by synthesizing insights from various research papers published in reputable journals. We categorize the BCI systems into invasive and non-invasive approaches, exploring the methods, techniques, and technologies employed in each category. Invasive BCIs involve direct neural implantation and have shown promise in restoring communication and motor control for individuals with severe disabilities. Non-invasive BCIs, on the other hand, encompass "electroencephalography (EEG), functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS)", and other modalities, offering a more accessible means of BCI adoption. Through a critical examination of these research papers, we evaluate the strengths and limitations of various BCI implementations, shedding light on their real-world applications, usability, and challenges. This comprehensive review aims to provide a useful tool for academics, doctors, and other professionals interested in the development of BCI technology.
